Menial Connect LTD ("Menial", "we", "us", or "our") operates the Menial platform — a mobile-first marketplace connecting everyday workers and artisans with clients across Nigerian cities.

We are committed to protecting your personal information in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) 2019 and the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the rights you have over your information.

We do not collect sensitive personal data such as biometric data, health information, or government identification numbers.

We process your data on the following legal grounds under NDPR/NDPA:

• Consent — you have explicitly agreed to our Terms and this Privacy Policy during sign-up.
• Contract performance — processing is necessary to provide the Menial service to you.
• Legitimate interests — platform security, fraud prevention, and service improvement, where these do not override your rights.
• Legal obligation — compliance with applicable Nigerian law.

• Facilitate messaging between workers and clients
• Process subscription payments via Paystack
• Send OTP verification messages via SMS
• Rank and filter search results (premium workers appear first)
• Detect and prevent fraud and abuse
• Improve the platform through anonymised analytics
• Respond to support enquiries

We will never sell your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes.

All third-party processors are contractually bound to process your data only on our instructions and in accordance with applicable data protection law.

You may request earlier deletion at any time (see Section 8).

Under the NDPR and NDPA, you have the right to:

• Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Deletion — request that we delete your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.

• Withdraw consent — withdraw your consent at any time (this will not affect processing carried out before withdrawal).

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), hashed authentication tokens, and role-based access controls. However, no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Menial is not directed at persons under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will delete their account and data promptly.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), the data protection supervisory authority in Nigeria.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via the app or by email (where available). Continued use of Menial after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
