Terms of Service

Last updated: 5 July 2025

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you and Menial Connect LTD ("Menial", "we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account or using the Menial platform — whether as a worker, client, or visitor — you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use Menial. You must be at least 18 years old to use the platform.

2. The Menial Service

Menial is an online marketplace that connects individuals and businesses seeking everyday labour ("Clients") with workers and artisans offering their skills ("Workers"). We provide the technology platform — we do not employ workers, and are not a party to any work agreement between a Client and a Worker.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time with reasonable notice.

3. User Accounts

  • You must provide accurate, current, and complete information when registering.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • You must not share your account with any other person.
  • You must notify us immediately at admin@menialconnect.com if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Client Responsibilities

As a Client, you agree to:

  • Use the platform only to find legitimate workers for lawful tasks.
  • Communicate respectfully with workers at all times.
  • Agree on scope, payment, and terms directly with workers before work begins — Menial is not responsible for disputes arising from unclear arrangements.
  • Not make fraudulent job postings or mislead workers.
  • Not contact workers for purposes unrelated to the services they advertise on Menial.

5. Worker Responsibilities

As a Worker, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about your skills, experience, and availability.
  • Only advertise services you are qualified and legally permitted to offer.
  • Honour commitments made to clients and complete agreed work to a professional standard.
  • Maintain an active subscription to remain visible in search results after your free trial ends.
  • Not create multiple accounts or impersonate other workers.
  • Comply with all applicable Nigerian employment, tax, and professional licensing laws relevant to your work.

6. Payments and Subscriptions

Free Trial

New workers receive a 7-day free trial. During the trial, your profile is listed in search results at no cost. No card details are required to start.

Subscription Plans

After the trial, workers must subscribe to remain listed. Plans are currently:

Standard₦5,000 / month
Premium₦10,000 / month — top of search + gold badge

Payments

  • All payments are processed by Paystack in Nigerian Naira (₦).
  • Subscriptions are billed monthly and do not renew automatically — you must manually renew.
  • Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice.
  • We do not offer refunds for unused subscription periods unless required by Nigerian consumer law.

Clients use Menial entirely free of charge. We do not charge transaction fees on payments made directly between clients and workers outside the platform.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You must not use Menial to:

  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse any other user.
  • Engage in discriminatory conduct based on gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
  • Solicit workers or clients to transact entirely off-platform solely to avoid our Terms.
  • Scrape, reverse-engineer, or use automated tools to access the platform.
  • Upload malicious code, spam, or unsolicited commercial messages.
  • Create accounts while banned or circumvent account restrictions.
  • Engage in any unlawful activity under Nigerian law.

Violation of these rules may result in immediate account suspension or permanent ban without refund.

8. User Content

You retain ownership of content you submit (profile descriptions, messages, photos). By posting content on Menial, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and use that content to operate and promote the platform.

You must not post content that is illegal, defamatory, pornographic, or infringes a third party's intellectual property rights. We may remove content that violates these Terms at our sole discretion.

9. Platform Moderation

We reserve the right to approve, reject, suspend, or permanently ban any account or listing at our sole discretion, including for reasons of quality control, user safety, or regulatory compliance. Moderation decisions are final, although you may appeal by emailing admin@menialconnect.com.

10. Limitation of Liability

Menial provides the platform "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by Nigerian law, Menial Connect LTD shall not be liable for:

  • The quality, safety, or legality of services offered by workers.
  • Any dispute, loss, injury, or damage arising from a transaction between a client and a worker.
  • Platform downtime, data loss, or service interruptions beyond our reasonable control.
  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from use of the service.

Our total liability to you in any circumstance shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The courts of Lagos State, Nigeria, shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms, unless we mutually agree to resolve it by alternative dispute resolution.

12. Dispute Resolution

We encourage you to contact us first at admin@menialconnect.com to resolve any dispute informally. If we cannot reach a resolution within 30 days, either party may escalate the matter to the appropriate Nigerian court or arbitration body.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notification or email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of Menial after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
